CoSea. Critical Visions from the Sea_new video-docu out

On the 7th of November, during the creative workshop “Marine Social Research. Present and Future of science, creativity and participation for the Ocean“, the new video-documentary “CoSea. Critical Visions from the Sea”, produced by Raw-News Visual Production Agency and directed by Federico Fornaro, is premiered at the Sapienza University of Rome – MEMOTEF Department.

Based on the research conducted by the CO>SEA research group, supported by the project CoSea_Lab (Third Mission Funds of the Sapienza University of Rome) and the collaboration of the EU Horizon project PartArt4OW, the documentary retraces the key themes that emerged from a participatory investigation into major socio-environmental emergencies — from coastal erosion to marine pollution, the privatization of beaches, and the silting of the harbor. Shot in Anzio and supported by the scientific research elaborated by Chiara Certomà, Caterina Pozzobon, Luca Bertocci, Tommaso Valente, Chiara Salari and Amedeo Boldrini, it unveils the voices and testimonies of those who experience firsthand the complex and fragile relationship between the coast and the ocean. The documentary shows a clear linkage between global marine/ocean challenges (e.g., plastic pollution, coastal erosion) and local manifestations in the Gulf of Anzio, and how citizens perceive and experience these.Interviews, documenrary work and investigations revealed multiple criticalities in the area: discharge/outflow points, water quality concerns, coast-line alterations, and social uses of the sea under stress.

On the 26th and 27th of Novembre 2025 the video-docu was broadcast by the local TV station Canale81 and can be retrivied here: https://www.twitch.tv/canale81lazio
